Royal Carting Hosts E-Waste Recycling Day to Benefit Sparrow’s Nest

Pile of old tvs with a blue sky in the background

Royal Carting Service Co., a Casella Company, is proud to announce a special E-Waste Recycling Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at our Transfer Station. This community-focused event combines environmental responsibility with charitable giving, benefiting Sparrow’s Nest, a local nonprofit supporting families facing cancer diagnoses.

The event offers Hudson Valley residents a convenient opportunity to dispose of old electronics and scrap metal while making a meaningful difference in their neighbors’ lives. With a suggested donation of just $10 per vehicle, community members can clear out unwanted items and support an important local cause.

Supporting Sparrow's Nest: A Vital Community Resource

All proceeds from this E-Waste Recycling Day will benefit Sparrow’s Nest, a remarkable 501(c)3 charity that has been serving Hudson Valley families since 2012. Based in Hopewell Junction, Sparrow’s Nest cooks and delivers homemade meals to individuals and families facing cancer diagnoses across Dutchess, Putnam, and parts of Orange and Ulster counties.

The organization feeds an average of 400 people each week and has served more than 3,500 individuals since its founding. Their mission extends beyond meal delivery, offering specialized programs like Camp Sparrow, which provides easy lunch meals and snacks during summer months, and an Aftercare Program that continues meal delivery to families after losing a loved one to cancer.

Sparrow’s Nest spends approximately $20,000 each week supporting local families during their most challenging times. The charity ensures that qualified recipients are never turned away, providing not just nourishment but also peace of mind during difficult treatment periods.

Why E-Waste Recycling Matters

Electronic waste represents one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally. Old computers, phones, televisions, and appliances contain valuable materials that can be recovered and reused, while also containing potentially harmful substances that require proper handling.

When you participate in our E-Waste Recycling Day, you’re helping to:

  • Keep hazardous materials out of landfills
  • Recover valuable metals and components for reuse
  • Reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing new electronics
  • Support responsible recycling practices in our community
