Frequently Asked Questions

All Transfer Station transactions begin and end at the scale. Once weighed in, customers may dump at our convenient Residential Drop-Off Center or, on the Commercial Tipping Floor depending on the composition of the material being discarded. Assistance is available if needed. After dumping, simply return to the scale to weigh out your vehicle and complete your transaction.

Cash, personal/business checks, and credit cards are accepted. You can also conveniently pay your bill online.

Royal Carting is a solid waste only facility. All forms of residential household and construction debris not considered liquid, hazardous, or toxic are accepted. (Common examples of acceptable waste include: furniture, carpets, mattresses, bagged kitchen waste, sheet rock, pressure-treated wood, roofing, household appliances, Freon appliances, electronic waste, general construction debris, and masonry debris)

No, accounts are not required to dump at the transfer station. However, payment is required at the time of service.

Store all used oil in screw-capped, tightly closed, plastic containers. Do not mix with other materials. Take used oil (up to 5 gallons per day) to a service station or retail store that sells oil (they are required by law to accept it at no charge, unless their holding tanks are temporarily full).

Royal Carting cannot accept paint in liquid form under any circumstances. Paint must be completely dried or hardened prior to disposal. Paint hardeners can be purchased from most hardware retail stores.

The Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management hosts “Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronic Recycling Events” for Dutchess County residents at various times throughout the year. Pre-registrations are required to attend these events. More information can be found by visiting www.Dutchessny.gov/solidwaste or, by calling 845-463-6020.

Monday-Friday 7am to 4pm, and Saturday 7am to 1pm. Operating hours are strictly enforced and monitored by the NYS DEC. Loads will not be accepted outside of the designated operating hours under any circumstances.

No liquids, (i.e. paints, chemicals, gas, motor oil etc.) pesticides, fertilizer or dirt. We only accept solid non-hazardous material.

In general a week ahead of time is usually enough, however there are times when that time frame could be shorter or longer depending on the time of year.

No, the price includes delivery and removal of the container and a predetermined weight limit according to size, there are extra fees for going over the weight limit and for electronics, Freon items, tires and mattresses.

Generally, rentals are for a duration of one week, a period of 7-10 days. In the Fall and Winter months roll off containers are more readily available than Spring and Summer when they are in high demand and construction is in full swing. Please plan accordingly.

We ask that carts be put out the night before service…Ex. Monday pick up, carts should be put out Sunday night, as the route driver starts very early in the morning.

Rechargeable batteries, electronics, paint, oil, fuel or any flammable, toxic, corrosive or hazardous materials, brush, leaves, wood, metal or car parts.

Bottles (glass and plastic), cans, paper including news, junk mail, paper bags, phone books, cardboard that is flat and clean (Ex. Pizza boxes can be recycled if clean, no food or food residue in them. All recycling should be dry and clean.

No medical waste, food or food residue, liquids, plastic bags (take back to local grocery store), ceramics, dishes, glassware, mirrors, pane glass, used paper product including tissues, paper towels, paper plates, feminine products, diapers, clothing, shoes, garden hoses, rope, tubing, car parts, scrap metal, wood, brush, leaves and Styrofoam.
